If we have all these new technologies and modalities to screen, diagnose and treat cancers of all types, why do these racial disparities continue?

Even though the technologies improved and our ability to do all these different things related to cases improved, we haven’t closed the gap in outcomes. If anything, we made it worse when it comes down to the disparities because it just ballooned. Non-medical and social determinants of health remain. That’s why we have to shift the focus regarding funding and research.
Doctors, hospital administrators, and oncologists – innocently or not – may shunt black patients toward one kind of treatment and white patients to the shinier treatment.
